  • Witness: Private and Private; Central Methodist Church, Townsville, Queensland, AustraliaG; Saturday, March 1, was the wedding date of Thelma, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jurss, Soule Street, Hermit Park,

and Neville, only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Olsen, North Street, West End. It was a 5 o'clock ceremony at the Central Methodist Church, the Rev. Cook officiating. The bride chose a lovely gown of chalk white imprinted organdi based over a strapless foundation of taffetas. The moulded bodice cut to a high neckline bordered with two demure collars, curved

into a panniered styled skirt caught up in front with tiny orange blossom sprays to reveal a frothy panel of rippling frills

cascading and swirling out extravagantly to the hemline. The diminutive sleeves were puffed. A dew-drop tulle veil floated over the gown to fingertip-length from a mount of French orange blossoms. Enchanting white flowers were in the bouquet she carried.

There were two bridesmaids Misses Nancy Bisley and Dawn Jurss (sister of the bride) who added colour with their bouffant

figured organdi gowns carried out in petunia-lavender shadings and worn over toning taffetas. The short sleeves were puffed and the trim fitting bodices were designed with scooped U-shaped necklines given emphasis with a fluted fold of material corresponding with the frill which garlanded the very full skirts at knee-length and was caught up at centre

front with matching flowers. A plaited rouleau of self-material offset the slim waistlines. Their picture hats of toning organdi were embellished at the back with an unusual horn shaped and flowered motif trim. A pert bow set off the baskets they carried filled with roses tinted in light and dark pinks and deep crimson. The 'groom was supported by Mr. Kevin Dabelstein as best man and Mr. Colin Jurss (brother of the bride) as groomsman. At the well wishing party that followed the reception guests toasted the happiness of the young couple, who have since left to spend their honeymoon holiday at Arcadia.
