MAYES-MACPHERSON.
Choice white blooms artistically arranged by the girl friends of the bride decorated the interior of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Creek-street, last evening, when the marriage was solemnised of Dr. Alexander Donald Aitken Mayes and Miss Thora Macpherson. The bride-groom, who is the elder son of Mr. and Mrs., A. Mayes, Bulimba, is the well known interstate cricketer, and the bride is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Macpherson. Haeramai, Main-street, Wooloowin. The Rev. Alexander Duff officiated. Mr. Dalley Scarlett presided at the organ, and during the signing of the register Mr. V. Westacott rendered a vocal solo. Mr. A. D. Macpherson gave away his daughter, who wore a bridal gown of silver lame, made with a draped overdress of ivory mariette, trimmed with silver lace, and caught at the left side with a posy of orange blossoms. The bodice was made in cross-over effect, finished on the shoulders with an orange blossom posy. Her veil was of Limerick lace, and was long enough to form a train. It was held in position with a wreath of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of cactus dahlias, roses, and car- nations, tied with satin ribbon streamers. Misses Vada Macpherson, Doreen Med- hurst, and Peggy Gough (bridemaids) were frocked alike in blue mariette, made with full skirts, with painted bands, embroid- ered in silver. The bodice of georgette opened over V-shaped vests of silver. At the waist line was a drape, caught with a diamante buckle. On their hair the maids wore silver swathes, and they carried shower bouquets of gold and pink dahlias, and pink Radiance roses tied with blue streamers. The duties of best man were carried out by Dr. Bruce Mayes, and those of grooms- men by Messrs. Frank Gough and Charles Mayes. At the conclusion of the cere- mony the guests were entertained at a wedding breakfast. Mrs. Macpherson re- ceived her guests wearing a gown of black satin romaine, made with a draped skirt, caught at the side with a jet ornament. The cross-over bodice showed a vest of blue and gold tissue, and the skirt was ornamented with blue and gold embroi- dery. She carried a posy of red roses set in tuile. On leaving for the honey- moon, which will be spent in a motor tour of the Northern Rivers, the bride wore a travelling frock of Madonna-blue repp, relieved with facings of silver gray, and showing fine French pleatings on the skirt, with which she wore a felt hat to tone. | Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaG |
