Marriage | 29 April 1859 | I now believe the marriage to Mathew Richie is not of Sarah the daughter of Francis and Agnes. This Sarah Smith seems to be in the 1851 Census in St Quivox as a 32 year old servant born in Monkton Ayrshire. This would also explain the discrepancy in the supposed Death Certificate where is says her father is Robert Smith, even though the mother is say to be Agnes Young. Although I cannot find the birth of a Sarah to this couple, Robert Smith and 'Janet' Young were having children in Mauchline, Ayrshire in around the right time period. | St Quivox, Ayrshire, ScotlandG1 |

Obituary | 17 March 1938 | Kelita Humphrey Bray, a resident of Charters Towers for 52 years, died in the District Hospital yesterday at the age of 63. He was born in Moonta, South Australia, and arrived here in the early eighties with his parents, who were Cornish people. With his father he engaged in mining, and in earlier days successfully worked gold shows within and without the city area. In his time also Kelita Bray had worked in most of the prominent mines on the field. He was regarded as something of an authority on mining, and to the last maintained that more gold remained in Charters Towers than was ever taken out of it. La'terly he did contract work for the Dalrymple Shire Council at Homestead and Pentland. Three weeks ago he suffered a relapse from an attack of dengue fever, but entered hospital only last Sunday. He was well liked every where, and was a particular favorite in company because of his gifts as a raconteur. Having copied the Cornish dialect perfectly, his "Cousin Jack" stories were always well told. He is survived by his widow and a large family of daughters, all married most of them residing in Townsville. | 1 |
