Marriage | WEDDINGS. WEST— KESSELL: Saturday, 18th. De- cember, at 7 p.m. the marriage was sole- mnised at the Hyde Park Presbyterian Church, by Rev. McKay, of two well known Townsvilleites, in Miss Win Kessell and Mr. Edward West. The bride entered the church on the arm of Mr. Dan McNelll (senior) and looked charming in her bridal gown of white silk breton net over taffeta, made in Victorian style. The bouffant skirt being made with rows of lace in a scalloped design. The bodice had a heart shaped neckline finished with kilt- ed net, with short pug sleeves of shirred net. Her veil of tulle, hand embroidered, kindly lent by Mrs. A. Dugard had been worn by nearly 100 brides and was worn off the face and held in position with orange blossom. Her bouquet of roses and lillies were the gift of an old friend. Mrs. Rasmussen. The something old was a cameo pendant, lent by Mrs. McNeill (senior). Her attendant, Miss Pat Mc- Kenzie, niece of the groom, wore pink breton net over taffeta in Victorian style, the full skirt being trimmed with tiny true lovers' knots, the bodice having a heart shaped neckline, with short puff sleeves of shirred net. She wore a finger length veil and mittens to match. Her bouquet of pink roses, the gift of Mrs. Rasmussen completed her toilette. Mr. Robert Till supported the groom. Miss Fraser presided at the organ and during the signing of the register Mrs. Dan Mc- Neill (Jun.) rendered the solo 'Because.' At the reception held at the residence of Mr. R. Collin, Philip Street, over 60 relatives and intimate friends were received by tbe bride's mother, assisted by the groom's mother. Mr. Dan McNeill acted as chairman. The three-tiered square cake, presented by the bride's aunt, Miss Kes- sel), Proserpine, held pride of place. Music was supplied by Miss Madge Collin (piano) and Mr. Bob Collin (jnr.) drums, while Mrs. McNeill rendered a solo. Tde bride travelled in grey crepe de chine, trimmed with white, white hat and acces- sories. They left for Ayr and Giru, to spend their honeymoon. They have now taken up residence in Hermit Park. | ||
