John Henry Batchelor, poultry farmer, of Harbour-road, Mourilyan, fell over the side of the boat and disappeared in about 35 feet of water. His companions communicated with the police at Mourilyan, and Sergeant McDuff. with Constable McCarthy, organised a search party. They searched all day. At nightfall they gave up and reported their unsuccessful efforts to the officer in charge of the Cairns police district (Inspector J. J. Osborne). The missing man was a brother of Mr. W. T.
