A death is reported from Charters Towers of Mr Thomas Trembath of Eumara Springs, a well known figure in North Queensland for about the last half century. He was a in a big way in tank sinking in the Winton district, but when the drought's came and dam sinking was cut out by bores, he removed his great team of horses from the West to Charters Towers. His appearance caused some consternation among the carters of sand and quatz, because by word of command he could himself drive half a dozen teams of horses which had been trained to obey him in his tank sinking operations. Leter Mt Trembath took up Eumara Springs selection, and went in extremely for breeding all classes of horses. Mr Trembath in his prime, was a remarkably strong man, and it is stated he beat Donald Dinne in a "snatch pull" at Winton when this great Scottish wrestler was touring the North. Mr Trembath had remarkable ability in handling horses, and he and his sons for many years were among the principal exhibitors in horse classes.
Deceased was one of the fine pioneering men who colonised the way for development. Recently Mt Trembath retired, his sone who have extensive interests in the North, carrying various businesses on.
